{fat-loss friday} snacking

hello friends.

it’s friday and here we are. last week i promised some snack ideas. and today i have 5 for you. how about that! one for each day next week, can you handle that? remember, snacks, just like meals should include a protein, a carb, and a fat.

a little more on snacking before i get into it. brock and i eat 2-3 snacks every day. we try and have smaller meal meals so we can spread our eating throughout the day. it’s a little bit extra work and time, but it gives us renewed energy, keeps that metabolism going, and i love snacks. so here we go!

5 healthy snacks

snack one: pina colada

this was one of our first healthy snacks we tried and it stuck like glue!

1/2 – 1 cup of cottage 2% cheese [protein]
equal part of crushed pineapple {when buying canned pineapple, get the ones in 100% juice, not syrup} [carb]
2 Tbsp coconut milk [fat]
stevia if desired

mix it in a bowl and chomp down! I usually go for the half a cup, brock does a whole. I just need less calories than he does.

snack two: the original apples + peanut butter

this may seem like a duh, but i used to forget that this was such a wonderful snack! it is! Add a glass of fat free milk for extra protein. any other combination of fruit and raw nuts is also excellent. i love grapes + almonds together.

apples [carb]
peanut butter [fat + protein]

snack three: grapes a la tasmin

i didn’t just want to put grapes and cottege cheese up there, but that’s what it is. this is super yummy and a new found favorite.

1/2 cup of red grapes, cut in half to release some sweet juice [carb]
1/2-3/4 cup of cottage cheese [protein]
1/4 cup of chopped nuts [fat]
1 tsp of honey

i looove this. if you want something a little summery later on, try it with frozen grapes. those are delish!

snack four: good ol’ carrots and hummus

just like it sounds. hummas has beans and tahini in it, counting for your protein and fat, carrots are the carb. you can make your own, or get some at the store. if you want some recipes i have a couples saved on my healthy food to try pinboard here.

snack five: my new heaven

{as seen above} this one doesn’t have a name, but i found it here. seriously, i could die. it sounds pretty normal and boring, but it is so creamy and delicious. this is the heaven version of apples + peanut butter.

1 serving of Greek vanilla yogurt [protein]
2 Tbsp of peanut butter [protein + fat]
1 tsp of honey
1 dash of cinnamon
1 apple all sliced up [carb]

mix all that up besides the apple and enjoy like fruit dip or with a spoon. it’s amazing both ways.
